Is Ronnie Peterson now past his prime? By today's standard he is almost a "veteran," having started his Formula 1 career as far back as 1970even before Emerson Fittipaldi. Since his Lotuses

began to turn sour in 1974 he has suffered one

frustration after another. Early in 1975 he almost quit Lotus for Shadow, and 12 months later he did leave, going back to March with whom he had begun his Grand Prix career.

But Peterson wasn't truly happy back at March. The car was agile, showed tremendous speed and handled well in the wet, yet for most of the year it was unreliable. So before the season was out Peterson agreed to head the Tyrrell team in 1977. He should be more confident in his new "home," but has he still the "fire" shown a few seasons back?
