"It is not so easy to become a manufacturer of automobiles," said Carlo Lamattina, the inventor of the Modulo. Lamattina built several prototypes in 1990, which he then sent to Rome and Munich to be homologated. This took three months at TQV in Germany and a little more than a year in Italy. But the vehicles passed the difficult tests. And Lamattina has been an automobile manufacturer since 1992.

Carlo Lamattina, born in 1940, worked among others for lagato, Alfa Romeo and the airplane manufacturer Aero-Macchi. It is possible that he allowed himself be inspired by the aerodynamic shapes of his last employer.
