Leading up to Le Mans:
The first race of 1966 was a 24 hour one in America. The Ferrari team decided not to take part and left NART to field a P2 against the Fords :
Daytona 24 Hour February 5-6th .... a walk over by Ford taking first 3 places with a Ferrari 4th another Ford and a final Porsche.

The next race was again in America a 12 hour race and SEFAC turned up:
Sebring 12 Hour March 26th another Ford taking first 3 places with Porsche, Ford, Porsche to follow.

The Championship then moved back to Europe with a shorter race in Italy:
Monza 1000Km April 25th was won by the Surtees/Parkes driving a works Ferrari 330P3 from 2 Fords Whitmore/Gregory and Muller/Mairesse.
Fords decided to miss the next race as it was a street circuit race set in Sicily:
Targa Florio May 8th after a series of crashes a Porsche win over Ferrari.

Next race was on the very fast circuit of Spa in Belgium:
Spa 1000Km May 22 won by Mike Parkes 330P3 followed by 4 Fords and a Dino
The final endurance race before Le Mans was in the mountains of Germany:
ADAC 1000 Km June 5th was a win by Chaparral followed by 2 Ferraris a Porsche and 2 Fords
