1991 - 1996:

Track Length: 13.600 km

Two new chicanes inserted into the Mulsanne straight to comply with FIA restrictions on length of straights - could not be longer than 2 miles in length.

The pits and pit lanes were fully overhauled in 1991.

Distance record 1993: 5,100.00 km, average: 213.358 km/h.

1997 - 2001

Track Length: 13.605 km

The track was changed primarily for the Superbikes over the cars - the Dunlop chicane was reshaped to make the turn a little further from the bridge, allowing for a greater 'run off area.'

Following several accidents during 1999 suffered by Mercedes, the FIA ordered that in 2001 the Mulsanne straight's 'hump' should be lowered.

Distance record: 2000: 5,007.988 km, average: 208.666 km/h.

2002 - 2006

Track Length: 13.650 km

The track was changed for a better entry to the 'Bugatti Circuit.' This was achieved by overhauling the characteristic straight run down the hill following Dunlop Bridge - replacing the layout for a succession of sweeping curves.

Distance record: 2006: 5,187.00 km, average: 215.409 km/h.

2007 - Present

Track Length: 13.629 km

The entrance to the Mulsanne straight was re-profiled to give it a smoother curvature.

Distance record set by the 2010 winners: 5,410.71 km, average speed: 225.228 km/h.
