1970 season, Tyrrell called upon Cevert to be his number two driver, alongside defending World Champion Stewart. Over the next four seasons, Cevert became the veteran Stewart's devoted protégé.
In ’71 at the Watkins Glen GP (USA), the Frenchman earned his first and only Grand Prix win, only the second Frenchman to win a Formula One World Championship Grand Prix. ’72 was a poor year for the Team and in late ’73 after a championship year Cevert was to become team leader with Stewart retiring but he crashed and died at Watkins Glen.
